The stories on these pages are the experiences of real people who have found the relationship they were made for with the God who created them.
…to all who believed in Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:10 (NLT)
Believing in Jesus isn’t complicated; it is a matter of putting your trust in someone who is entirely trustworthy and never letting go of that trust. There are good reasons why people believe in Jesus. First, there is the evidence of creation. People say that it takes a lot of faith to believe in God – but I think that it takes a great deal more faith to believe that there is no Creator – that all this came out of nothing – by accident. Secondly, there is very good sound historical evidence for the life, teaching, miracles, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Also there is the evidence of believers all over the world and throughout the centuries who would claim that Jesus is alive, that they know Him and He knows them. This site shows just a small selection of their stories.
The people featured here are people like you. They may live in your village. They are people you might queue alongside in the supermarket or sit next to in the cinema. Their stories are told simply and honestly in their own words. I am amazed at the variety of experiences. It is wonderful how God deals with everyone differently but at the same time He loves everyone equally.The same God who loves them loves you and He wants you to enjoy the relationship with Him that He made you for – a relationship more deep and intimate than any you have ever known. Nothing in your whole life is more important than getting to know God. There is nothing and no-one like Him.
God may stir something in your heart as you read these stories and you may wish to respond to Him and get to know Him now.
Whoever you are and whatever you have done or believed in the past you are welcome to join his family. The way to God the Father is Jesus Christ. He took responsibility for your every sin – everything you have done, said or thought that has offended God. Even though He was the only person who ever lived who had never sinned, He died the death of a criminal in your place, so that you can make a completely fresh start with God as your Father. Reach out and take hold of all that He has for you now by praying the prayer that follows. Nothing will ever be the same again.
Dear Father God
I am sorry that I have sought to live my life independently from you so far.
I’m sorry for the times I have sinned against other people and, worst of all, sinned against you. (Stop to say you are sorry to the Lord for anything that is particularly on your conscience.)
Thank you that Jesus, your Son, lived, died and rose from the dead for me so that I could be forgiven, set free and brought close to you, now and for eternity.
I now turn my back on my old way of life and turn to you, to live in your way from now on. Thank you that you will give me your Holy Spirit now to enable me to live this new life.
I put my trust entirely in you and commit myself to discovering day by day what honours you.
Thank you, Lord.
Amen
You can discover more about what it means to be a real Christian by:
- attending an Alpha (http://uk.alpha.org) or Christianity Explored Course (http://www.christianityexplored.org). The websites show where your nearest course is being run;
- reading the Bible, preferably in a modern translation (start with a gospel – Matthew, Mark, Luke or John);
- talking to God in prayer;
- committing yourself to a local Christian church and getting involved in their activities.
Say the welcoming word to God – ‘Jesus is my Master’ – embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead.
That’s it. You’re not ‘doing’ anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you.
That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!”
